Metastatic melanoma

A large left frontal metastasis, with prominent enhancement and surrounding vasogenic edema is noted on pre- and post-contrast T1-weighted scans. There are small areas of hemorrhage (methemoglobin) and cystic change (with low signal intensity) therein. The 4 mm coronal post-contrast T1-weighted image raises the question of a small pinpoint cerebellar metastasis on the left. Reformatting the 1 mm 3D MP-RAGE post-contrast scan (as a 2 mm section), centered on the abnormal enhancement, confirms the presence of this metastasis.
