Synovial Osteochondromatosis

Clinical History:
59 yr old woman with left knee pain.

Diagnosis:
Synovial osteochondromatosis.

MR Technique:
3T Scanner (Siemens Verio) with knee coil; Image 1: STIR coronal (TI 220 ms, TR/TE 5250/34 ms, slice thickness 3 mm, scan time 1 min 45 sec); Image 2: T2 axial (TR/TE 966/23 ms, slice thickness 3 mm, scan time 4 min 18 sec); Image 3: Proton density sagittal (TR/TE 4080/36 ms, slice thickness 3 mm, scan time 2 min 22 sec).

Imaging Findings:
Numerous smooth, round calcified bodies are present in the knee predominantly along the posterior surface of the femoral condyles consistent with synovial osteochondromatosis.
